Eastline Nashville
Four-Star Quality Boutique Condo Hotel
Hello. Joel Greene here from Condo Hotel Center.
Sometimes the craziest idea turns out to be the best idea. The idea might be ridiculed or ignored. But against all odds, sometimes an outrageous concept gains momentum and takes on a life of its own.
In 1897 Tennessee was getting ready to celebrate its 100th year of statehood. The city’s leaders decided to honor the event with the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. They dedicated 200 acres in Nashville to building 100 exhibits, each one dedicated to a different theme such as agriculture, education, history and forestry.
Someone in the community – it isn’t clear exactly who – suggested one of the exhibits should be a Parthenon, modeled after the one in Greece built in 447 BC, because of Nashville’s growing reputation as a center of learning and appreciation for the arts. The proposal suggested that Nashville would then become known as the “Athens of the South.”
The aspirational nickname seemed a bit far-fetched at the time, but organizers of the Centennial Exposition were committed to encouraging creativity and approved the idea. The Parthenon was built along with the other exhibits. The six-month Exposition was a huge success, attracting 1.8 million visitors.
When the Exposition ended, all of the exhibits were closed and removed, except the Parthenon. City leaders hesitated because it had been the most popular exhibit. Although built to be temporary, the Parthenon crystallized for Nashvillians their image of themselves. City leaders couldn’t bear to tear it down.
The Parthenon remained. However, the exterior coating, sculpture and decorative work were made of plaster and soon deteriorated.
Repeated patching kept destruction at bay for several years, but in 1920 the city was forced to face a difficult decision: tear it down completely or invest the money to rebuild it using proper materials that would last. I’ll tell you what they chose in a minute.
But first, let me introduce you to today’s featured property, which just happens to be in Nashville, near the site of the Parthenon reproduction. Read on for details.

East Nashville is also at the center of the city’s exploding food scene, with an ever-expanding collection of buzz-worthy restaurants. Also a hub for musicians, local talent can be found performing every night of the week at intimate venues.
Iconic Broadway with its honky tonks (rowdy bars) is the place to go for live music, drinking, line dancing, dining and shopping in Nashville. Music City further lives up to its name with the Grand Ole Opry, Country Music Hall of Fame and Musicians Hall of Fame.

Nashville’s Parthenon Lives On
At the top, I mentioned The Parthenon in Nashville and how the city’s leaders faced a difficult choice: tear down the decaying replica of the original Parthenon in Athens or rebuild it into a more permanent structure.
They chose to rebuild. Today it is the only exact-size and detailed replica of the original. I can vouch for its resemblance having visited The Parthenon in Athens last year.
The Nashville Parthenon is now the centerpiece of the city’s Centennial Park, Nashville’s premier urban park, and also houses a world-class art museum, well worth a visit.
If owning a piece of the Athens of the South (Opa!) and being close to Nashville’s many attractions appeals to you, I hope you’ll consider Eastline Nashville condo hotel.
Have a nice day!
