How CityPlace Came to Be

CityPlace South Tower was developed by Miami-based Related Group, one of the country’s most prominent residential development companies, in business since 1979. When CityPlace’s 2008 opening unfortunately coincided with the real estate crash, Related handed over control of the property to the lender, Scotia Capital, July 2009.

In Nov. 2010, Scotia sold the remaining 305 unsold units to, its current owner, Dallas Texas Investment Group, Gulfstream Capital Partners. Gulfstream, led by Vero Beach native Frank G. Howard Jr., owns a portfolio of multi-family and mixed-use developments nationwide.

When these units were originally sold in 2006 during the pre-construction phase, average prices were $450 to $500 per sq. ft. Today’s prices average only $321 per sq. ft.
