Brickell Miami vs. New York
As I mentioned at the top, Miami’s Brickell area has some of the appealing qualities that New York City does, but there are some key differences. Beyond its glittering financial district (often called the Wall Street of the South), Brickell is a vibrant neighborhood pulsing with culture, cuisine and recreation.
- Age – Brickell gleams with ultra-modern, cloud-piercing architecture. Most of the high-rises were built within the last 5-10 years, whereas most of New York’s were built during the construction boon of 1900–1920, making them 100+ years old.
- Amenities – Brickell offers waterfront residences that boast breathtaking views and amenities like private gyms, rooftop pools, fitness centers, shops, restaurants, cafes and cozy lounge spaces. That’s not the case for most NYC buildings.
- Affordability – In Brickell, the median apartment rent in October 2023 for two-bedroom apartments and condos was $4,153. In Manhattan’s Midtown area the median rent for a similar 2-bedroom was $6,000. Pound for pound, you get far more value for your money in Brickell.
- Taxes – Florida has no income taxes! And let’s not forget that New York’s other taxes are much higher across the board.
