Many local governments operate with tight budgets. They dream of exciting, new projects for their area like museums, community centers, or botanical gardens, but often lack the funding to follow through. That’s why it’s so rewarding when you see a city’s vision come to life.
The Bailey Hotel, built in 1932 in downtown Pompano Beach, once bustled with activity, serving farmers transporting their Florida-grown produce north. Fast forward to the 2,000s, the hotel had fallen into disrepair, seemingly doomed for demolition. That’s until two business owners stepped in, keeping hope alive, though the building remained vacant for another 12 years.
In 2012, Pompano’s Community Redevelopment Agency decided to make their town a thriving hub for visual arts. They purchased the Bailey Hotel building for $370,000 and completed $1.3 million in renovations. They turned the downstairs into an art gallery and transformed the hotel rooms on the second floor into artist studios with glass windows enabling visitors to watch the artists at work.
Today the historic Bailey Hotel is the Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCa) center, the keystone of the city’s Creative Arts District.

Location Highlights
Pompano Beach is about 35 miles north of Miami and about 10 miles north of Fort Lauderdale. Historically, it’s known for its serene beaches, vibrant marinas and coral reef dive sites.
Today, it’s undergoing an exciting transformation. The city is investing heavily in infrastructure, including beach restoration and a city beautification process. A revitalized downtown area will feature a blend of cultural centers, recreational spaces, and mixed-use developments.

The Pomp is another development in the works. The 223-acre project will encompass over 25,000 sq. ft. of premier food and beverage venues. Prices at W Start at $770,000
Construction on W Pompano Beach is scheduled to begin in 2026 and to be completed in 2029. The condo hotel units include studios, one-bedrooms with den and two-bedrooms with den. They range in size from 578 sq. ft. to 1,922 sq. ft. Prices range from $770,000 to $2,325,000.
Initial pricing for the 77 condo residences, with two-, three- and four-bedrooms, each with den, range from $3.1 million to $4,900,000+.
