Many local governments operate with tight budgets. They dream of exciting, new projects for their area like museums, community centers, or botanical gardens, but often lack the funding to follow through. That’s why it’s so rewarding when you see a city’s vision come to life.

The Bailey Hotel, built in 1932 in downtown Pompano Beach, once bustled with activity, serving farmers transporting their Florida-grown produce north. Fast forward to the 2,000s, the hotel had fallen into disrepair, seemingly doomed for demolition. That’s until two business owners stepped in, keeping hope alive, though the building remained vacant for another 12 years.

In 2012, Pompano’s Community Redevelopment Agency decided to make their town a thriving hub for visual arts. They purchased the Bailey Hotel building for $370,000 and completed $1.3 million in renovations. They turned the downstairs into an art gallery and transformed the hotel rooms on the second floor into artist studios with glass windows enabling visitors to watch the artists at work.

Construction on W Pompano Beach is scheduled to begin in 2026 and to be completed in 2029. The condo hotel units include studios, one-bedrooms with den and two-bedrooms with den. They range in size from 578 sq. ft. to 1,922 sq. ft. Prices range from $770,000 to $2,325,000.
